Last week, the VIA – the German independent music industry’s critics’ award – was once again presented at the Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg. Eight outstanding artists, music entrepreneurs, and projects were honored by the Association of Independent Music Entrepreneurs (VUT). The VIA recognizes musical quality and innovation regardless of commercial success.
These wonderful winners were honored with the VIA 2025:
- Best Newcomer: Vandalisbin
- Best Act: Masha Qrella
- Best Album: Ebow – “FC Chaya”
- Best Label: Grand Hotel van Cleef
- Best Experiment: Holly Herndon & Mat Dryhurst – “The Call”
- Best New Music Business: Aurismatic
- Special Award: Frank Bull
- Indie-Axt: Helen Smith
