Henry Lee is the name of the band of Cologne-based artist Elisa Henriette Metz, who builds instruments out of glass and writes all of her songs on the bass.
In her music, she combines lo-fi pop melodies reminiscent of bands like Electrelane, Stereolab and Broadcast with rustling field recordings and warm synthesizers to create a sound that oscillates between dream pop and early Radiophonic Workshop experiments. The result is a ‘multi-layered, very atmospheric pop album with elements of shoegaze and 90s dream pop’ (1Live Heimatkult).
Her musical references are not nostalgically rooted. Henry Lee’s gently breathed lyrics create a melancholy that is rooted in a seemingly timeless here and now.
Two studio albums have been produced in collaboration with Berlin-based producer Jakob Lebsanft: Henry Lee’s debut album “TV in the Corner” was released on her own indie label tétégé records in 2022. The second album, “Epiphanies”, which moves with elegant complexity between college rock reveries and experimental pop music, will be released tomorrow.
Henry Lee “Epiphanies” will be available via tétégé records Bandcamp.
