CD (Compact Disc)
The CD has a few clear advantages over other forms of music storage media. Despite its significantly smaller size compared to a classic 12″ Vinyl record, the CD offers a much longer running time of up to 74 minutes.
Although the CD is also a disc, it works in a fundamentally different way to a Vinyl record. It is not actually a sound carrier, but a data carrier, as the music is stored on it in the form of digital data.
The great advantage of CD technology is that a laser beam in the CD player scans the disc without touching it. This means that the surface of a CD cannot be scratched or worn by a needle, as is the case with a record player. Crackling and other noises familiar from records do not occur here. Digital technology also allows direct access to every piece of music without delay.
In the past, CDs were usually packaged in jewel cases, but today there are countless beautiful and more sustainable packaging options for one or more CDs. You can find some examples from our production below.
